Patio season is officially upon us, and this non-alcoholic frozen strawberry daiquiri recipe is perfect for it in so many ways. First off, if you’re looking for a beautiful summer drink to make as a refreshing treat for yourself and for your friends while you lounge poolside (or maybe in a hot spring!), the swirls of the strawberry and the coconut milk make a simply gorgeous mocktail. Second, this healthy frozen daiquiri is microbiome-boosting thanks to its beneficial metabolic and fibrous ingredients! The ingredients in this drink like fresh strawberries, coconut milk, and ginger are shown to relieve constipation, reduce bloating, ease nausea, and increase the diversity of your gut microbiota!

I also think this is the perfect summer mocktail to make if you’re sober curious or trying to have fun without alcohol. I’ve been sober for nine months now and “how to have fun without alcohol” is the number one question that I get. And, I get it! I wondered: Would I still be able to have fun going to parties or would I be able to relax without alcohol? It reminded me of when I thought about stopping hormonal birth control. I was sure it was going to ruin my relationship, but then it just wasn’t a big deal. Becoming sober was the exact same way. I hyped it up in my head that it was going to cause all of these problems, but absolutely nothing changed—except now I don’t lose entire days from being hungover or feeling like sh*t! And now, to relax, instead of spending so much money on drinks out, I can spend that on getting a massage or going to the spa! If you want to dip your toe in the water of having fun without drinking, I guarantee these mocktails will make it so much easier.

Ingredients in this virgin strawberry daiquiri recipe

When you’re looking for a non-alcoholic drink to cool off this summer, this homemade frozen
strawberry daiquiri is made with just five ingredients to deliver a refreshing vibe in no time flat. Here’s what you’ll need to make it and exactly why it’ll boost your microbiome health:

Fresh strawberries: rich in polyphenols known as hydroxybenzoic acids, which, when metabolized by colonic bacteria, create beneficial metabolites. Since we’re not straining, we still have all the fiber that gut microbes love to feast on.

Fresh ginger: adds a fresh kick and has been shown in research to increase the diversity of gut
microbiota, alleviate bloating, gas, and nausea, and even help alleviate constipation.

Coconut milk: contains lauric acid that can fight viruses and bacteria, and offers the creamiest,
prettiest swirl.

Lime juice: a great source of Vitamin C and a natural immune-booster, lime juice is also a staple
ingredient in traditional strawberry daiquiri recipes.

Honey: we get natural sweetness from honey which is shown to be good for indigestion since it
doesn’t ferment in the stomach.

How to make a homemade strawberry daiquiri

The only tool you’ll need to make this delicious frozen mocktail is a blender or food processor. You’ll simply blend strawberries with ginger, honey, lime juice, a bit of water, and a pinch of salt. This will make a thick mixture that’s barely pourable, and that’s what we want! Then, you’ll add coconut milk into a liquid measuring cup so that you can pour just a bit of coconut milk at a time into two aesthetically pleasing drinking glasses. This is how we create the swirl affect. Next, you’ll add a little strawberry daiquiri mixture on top of the coconut milk, and the rest of the coconut milk, and then the rest of the daiquiri mixture until it’s divided evenly between the two glasses! You can use a spoon to gently swirl the colors together and enjoy!

Can I add alcohol?

Of course! You can easily customize this virgin strawberry daiquiri into a healthy frozen drink by adding a shot of your favorite liquor. I think rum, tequila, or mezcal would taste amazing! You’ll still get plenty of digestive benefits even when you sneak a little alcohol in there.
